Steve started DJ’ng at the tender age of 17, playing funk , soul and rare grooves at clubs and pubs in Maidenhead and Windsor in the late 80s , then when the acid house scene hit in 1988 switched to playing house music, then hardcore house , loving the funk breakbeat elements of this genre – it was then he started producing hardcore, signing to Kickin records as the artist DEA, releasing the top 20 house chart tune “you think it’s over now” – then moving on to funky house production, releasing the tracks “whose gonna ease the pressure” on Peach/PWL records , “club fiction “, a remix of the pulp fiction film soundtrack lead song, and a disco house EP on Spirit recordings by the wax junkies in 1998, to critical acclaim.. then for the next few years playing out as a house dj around the south east alongside Alex P, Brandon Block , Tall Paul and Seb Fontaine … after taking a break to start a family and a career outside music for a few years , he got back into music production under the artist name “Digital Misfits” https://on.soundcloud.com/yk8BmWbaZUTBUeFx6 , producing house remixes of artists such as Usher, Anastasia, Hue & Cry, Montell Jordan , Pauline Henry as well as writing original house tracks with vocalists Le’Voy Wilson and Remi Sealey – plus funk and soul remixes of James Brown and the Beatles “Lady Madonna “ – whilst continuing to Dj his first music love of 70’s funk and soul, amassing a huge collection of over 500 records, which he now shares on his weekly radio show on ambition radio
